Orange

An orange is a fruit of various citrus species in the family Rutaceae; it primarily refers to Citrus × sinensis, which is also called sweet orange, to distinguish it from the related Citrus × aurantium, referred to as bitter orange.

Orange, which grows mostly on the Mediterranean coasts of Adana, Mersin and Dörtyol in our country, is the most diverse and most produced fruit of the Citrus family.

It grows on trees of grayish color that can reach 12 meters in length. Orange trees with dense leaves can produce many oranges at once.

If left alone, an orange tree has a lifespan of about 100 years.

Essential oils are obtained from the bark, flowers and leaves, which are used to give fragrance and flavor in perfumery.
