Apricot

An apricot is a fruit, or the tree that bears the fruit, of several species in the genus Prunus. Usually, an apricot is from the species P. armeniaca, but the fruits of the other species in Prunus sect. Armeniaca are also called apricots.

The apricot is a small tree, 8–12 m (26–39 ft) tall, with a trunk up to 40 cm (16 in) in diameter and a dense, spreading canopy.

Yellow to orange, usually red on the sun-exposed side; The surface may be smooth or velvety and very short haired.
Apricot fruit is slightly larger than walnut, yellow, fleshy, juicy, hard and single-seeded.

Its flowers are white or pink in color.

Although its cultivation has spread almost all over the world, apricot trees in our country are grown in Malatya, in particular, and in Elazig, Mersin, Iğdır and Antalya provinces, respectively.
